My first steps into photography began with my studies at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (Visual Communication), where I graduated in 1996 with a documentation about the post war areas on the Balkans. In the same year, I started my own business.

Since 2002 I have been living in Osnabrück / Lower Saxony with my family. From here I work nationally and internationally for companies, magazines, foundations and NGOs/GOs in the field of portrait, reporting and industrial photography.

My special bond with Africa started in 2005. On a two month long trip through the Tanzanian Province Kagera and the townships around Durban (South Africa), I portrayed and interviewed more than 50 families, who have lost numerous relatives through the HIV pandemic. From this work resulted an intense cooperation with different acting NGOs/GOs and a strong commitment with this continent.

My work has been recognized and honored at UNICEF - Photo of the year, the Mediaprize of German Kindernothilfe and was judged on the shortlist of the Henri Nannen Prize. Since 1999 I’m represented by agency laif/Cologne.
